HORL-1993
Otmar and Timo Horl founded the HORL 1993 manufacture in 2016 and have been combining quality and design in their products ever since. From the very beginning, all signs pointed towards growth. Increasing demand and the acceptance of dealers quickly made HORL® roller sharpeners a popular way to sharpen knives. From initially assembling sharpeners in their living room, the family business has developed rapidly. With a thriving factory in the Black Forest the brand is now expanding into the international market.
Precision from the Black Forest
Precision from the Black Forest High standards of quality and regional sourcing play an important role at HORL®. The wood and metal used in production come from the Black Forest and the laser engraving and final assembly is also carried out by partner companies located nearby. HORL® and its manufacturing partners are experts in wood processing and assembly technology. The close proximity of our partners means that developments, new ideas and prototypes can be discussed in person and implemented immediately in the shortest possible time. This enables the development team to constantly optimise production and quality and to expand the product range.
With attention to every detail
Filigree bevels, solid wooden parts and precise workmanship make every HORL® product a one of a kind. Close attention is also paid to the quality of the wood used. The wood is dried in special ovens to guarantee the ideal degree of moisture and thus the highest quality. The stainless-steel rotating parts are integrated and the complex diamond coating is applied by means of an electroplating process. The diamonds are set in a bed of nickel and form one of the longest-lasting grinding surfaces on the market. Special-purpose machines developed especially for HORL® ensure the highest precision and efficiency, from production to assembly. Upon completion, all HORL® products are given a final check by a trained eye for quality assurance and are then packed by hand.
