The slow cooker is not really a new phenomenon, the cooking method has existed in different forms under different names for a long time, from cooking pits covered with stones to the North African clay pot tagine. In the USA, so-called crock pots have been used since the 70s. Slow cooking has become extremely popular in recent years. By cooking meat and vegetables at a low temperature for many hours, a fantastic taste is created and the ingredients retain their nutrients - and you can have food on the table immediately when you get home. Simply put, the slow cooker is a more modern form of the classic cast-iron or ceramic pot that simmers on the stove or in the oven for several hours.
