  • Information
    • Atelier September is on Gothersgade in Copenhagen and serves food during the day, namely breakfast and lunch, most of it vegetarian. Frederik Bille Brahe runs the place and has since also opened Apollo and Kafeteria at the Statens Museum for Kunst.

There are 86 recipes here and almost none of them are technically difficult. Soups, salads, porridge, eggs, pancakes and pastries. Instead, this is a book about making uncomplicated food exceptionally well, and about how to put it on the table.

The café's influence is difficult to overstate. Its light, restrained aesthetic of ceramics, cut flowers and daylight has been copied by cafés all over the world, and its avocado mad is probably one of the most photographed sandwiches ever made. If you wonder why breakfast looks the same in Stockholm, Melbourne and Berlin, this is a reasonable place to start looking for the answer.

Published by Apartamento, which also produces the interiors magazine of the same name, and it shows. The book is as much an object as it is a handbook, and is at its best for anyone interested in both.
