      Before each holiday, you get help with planning and suggestions for the order of events. For example, how far in advance can you dig the salmon, roll the meatballs or bake the Easter cake? The Easter chapter alternates recipes for stuffed egg halves, poached eggs and oven omelettes with roast lamb and vegetarian options such as broccoli and goat's cheese pie, finishing with a lemon and meringue pie with a mazarin base. Maybe an eggnog too.

      During Midsummer, it's important to get the perfect food from morning to night. There's a strawberry breakfast, a magnificent matjessill cake, clay pot herring, and in the evening various skewers with salmon, steak and vegetables. And then perhaps the biggest holiday of all, Christmas. In addition to the obvious ham and Jansson's temptation, there are recipes for salmon tartare with capers and tarragon, celery salad and Finnish turnip box - and a really hearty Boxing Day dinner with roast turkey and cream sauce.

      The book contains a total of about 200 recipes and is a reference work to return to again and again.
