The knives in Yaxell's Super GOU 161 series are made of a full 161 (!) layers of steel. The core and extremely sharp edge are made of the Japanese SG2 Micro Carbide stainless steel powder and are surrounded on each side by 80 layers of softer steel. The powdered steel is rich in carbon and the steel has a hardness of approximately 63 HRC.
The powdered steel is used because it guarantees a high degree of purity and strength, resulting in an exceptionally sharp edge. The blade impresses with a fascinating Damascus design pattern - symbolizing a knife of the highest quality.
