The Long Kasai Konro is the most generous model in the Kasai range of table-top grills. At 70 centimeters in length and nearly 18 kilograms in weight, it is designed to withstand both intense restaurant environments and demanding home cooks. The construction is reinforced with a frame of British-made brushed stainless steel, and inside are Kasai's signature mineral plates that reflect heat inwards instead of releasing it sideways. The result is a grill where the temperature rises straight up, concentrated and efficient, making it ideal for everything from yakitori and robata to sous vide finishes or vegetarian small plates.
The plates are made from a natural mineral that undergoes an exfoliation process and is then fired to withstand up to 1200 degrees. When they eventually turn black, they can be replaced - each part is available as a spare part, meaning the entire grill can be renovated and restored, including the walls. The used plates are ground down and work great as a soil amendment in the garden. This gives the grill a lifespan that other brands simply can't match.
The grill gets very hot very quickly, especially when using compact charcoal such as Japanese binchotan, which we highly recommend. It burns long, has minimal odor and doesn't affect the flavor of the food - on the contrary, it enhances the character of what you're grilling. Because the grilling surface is close to the bed of embers, marinade, fat and meat juices drip straight onto the charcoal and evaporate directly into an aromatic cloud that envelops the food. The design also features a heavy, stable grill grate that stays firmly in place even when you get loose with the tongs.
With its size, this is a grill suitable for parties of up to ten people or for professional chefs who want to be able to run several different ingredients at the same time without compromising on heat. And because it's built to last, this is an investment you make once - not every summer.
