A slightly simpler model of the amazing Coravin. It doesn't have quite the same great functionality, but an even more amazing price. Using the Pivot, you can keep your wine bottles in good condition for up to four weeks from the time you drink your first glass.
Here's how it works:
Open the cork of your wine bottle and push in one of the Pivot's stoppers. Put your Coravin Pivot on top of the cork and run the nozzle through. By pressing the button on the device, you'll get pressure and be able to pour a glass of wine without getting oxygen into the bottle. Pull the nozzle back up and seal the stopper with the lid. The bottle will now last up to four weeks.
A few important things to consider are to insert the stopper immediately after opening the bottle. If you pour a glass first, you get a lot of oxygen into the bottle and the point is lost. The coravin cartridge contains 99.99% pure argon gas, which is a noble gas and absolutely does not want to mix with other things. Therefore, the wine (and the argon gas too, for that matter) remains unaffected.
The other models of Coravin go through the bottle's original cork and therefore leave the wine completely unaffected. As the Pivot requires the bottle to be opened, it will not last forever, but it significantly extends the life of each opened bottle. The Pivot is only compatible with its own stoppers and as such has no need or compatibility with other Coravin needles. The Coravin Aerator does not fit on the Pivot either. The model does not work for sparkling wines.
