    • Konjac gum or konjac root (äalso konjac gum and konjac root) äis an all-natural product made from the fibrous root of the konjac tree which äis a type of cold water (not to be confused with cognac). Unlike many other fruit thickeners, it is naturally gluten-free. Konjac root is a powerful thickener and has about 10 grams more thickening power than traditional cornstarch. It is also used as a thickening agent in a wide variety of dishes such as soups, sauces, gravies, custards, casseroles, pie fillings and puddings. Lös easily set up äeven in cold weather. Konjac root is low in calories and an important ingredient in much vegan cooking.

      Use: Mix Konjac root with a small amount of cold water and stir until it dissolves. This prevents it from forming lumps in your dish. Then add the mixture to your batter. Konjac powder thickens quickly when stirred. As a general guide, use about 20 g (4 tsp) per liter of liquid, but less or more may be needed, depending on the consistency you want.

      Store dry and cool away from direct sunlight. Use within six months of opening the package.
