Veark is a Copenhagen-based brand that started with a simple premise: kitchen tools should not have to choose between looking good and working well. The CK20 was the first knife the brand developed and remains the one that best encapsulates what Veark is about. Veark wanted to make a knife with an industrial feel that clearly worked as a workhorse in the kitchen. They succeeded, and were noticed by Dezeen at launch. Since then it has become a well-known fixture in design-conscious kitchens.
The knife is forged in a single piece of German steel in Solingen and carries no separate parts. No bolsters, no rivets, no joint between blade and handle. The blade and handle are an unbroken line of steel. The open hole in the handle, the oval window that is the brand's most recognisable detail, results from removing everything that is not needed and letting the form emerge from the material and the manufacturing process rather than from decoration. The knife looks different from every other knife in a kitchen, and that is one of its points. Hanging on a magnetic bar against a white wall, it is a design element as much as a kitchen tool.
The CK20 is the chef's knife in classic size, 20 cm, and handles most of what is placed on a cutting board. Blade length 20 cm. Full steel construction, a heavy and robust knife with an industrial workhorse feel. Stainless steel X50CRMoV15, 58 HRC. Made in Solingen, Germany.
