The CK16 is the shorter chef's knife in Veark's collection and for many the better everyday format. Four centimetres of difference compared to the CK20 sounds marginal but changes the knife noticeably in the hand: the CK16 is lighter and offers a depth of control the longer format cannot quite match for fine and detailed work. It handles faster on a small cutting board and sits comfortably even in a more compact kitchen.
The construction is the same as throughout Veark's knife line: a single piece of German steel forged in Solingen, without rivets, joints or separate materials. The open oval handle is the brand's signature feature, the detail that makes a Veark knife difficult to confuse with anything else. The CK16 looks just as good hanging on a magnetic bar against a tiled wall as the CK20, just in a slightly more compact format.
Choosing the CK16 over the CK20 is not a compromise. It is a different choice that suits a different style of use. Blade length 16 cm. Full steel construction, a heavy and robust knife with an industrial workhorse feel. Stainless steel X50CRMoV15, 58 HRC. Made in Solingen, Germany.
