Bryant Terry brought together more than a hundred Black cultural figures to build an anthology of recipes, essays, poetry, and visual art, organised thematically around experience rather than around meals. The book won The Art of Eating Prize, awarded to the year's best food book and one that rewards literature rather than recipes. It was also the launch title for Terry's own imprint, whose stated purpose is to give Black and other creators of colour control over how their books look. As much an editorial achievement as a culinary one.
