  • Information
    • Binchotan charcoal made according to traditional Japanese method. The charcoal is made on white oak in a process that takes ten days. The result is a lightweight but compact carbon that gives off a characteristic ringing sound when two pieces hit each other. But it is not for the sake of the sound that binchotan is a world-famous coal variety. Other types of coal are usually at 75% carbon content or less, while binchota can boast its 97%. It gives an incredibly long burning time and very little os in comparison with other products. This very coal is produced in the Baltics according to the same method that the Japanese have used since ancient times. Karelian white oak has been used here, which is also very grateful! Most woods have 50-60% tannins which can often produce a bitter and burnt taste on grilled food. The Karelian white oak has only 15% tannin content, which gives the food a much more pleasant taste.   With all the great qualities comes a small, small catch and that is that the bincho can be a bit tricky to get fired up. A gas burner and patience is the best method and then you have many long hours of grilling ahead of you!   The box contains ten kilos of charcoal, and although it barely makes a sound at all, we would like to remind you that barbecuing is an outdoor activity.
