Za’atar is a classic, in this case organic, spice blend from Middle Eastern cuisine. It is suitable for fish, meat and vegetables and can be used in cooking for marinades, dressings and sauces, but also for topping dishes after cooking. Za’atar adds flavor to anything. Throw some on eggs, tomatoes, salad or your hummus to experience it live.
A real classic is otherwise to dip bread first in oil, then in za’atar in all its simplicity.
This mixture contains thyme, oregano and marjoram which gives a fresh herbaceous feeling. It also has some acidity from sumac and nuttiness from roasted sesame.
