Not every kitchen has a ceiling you can screw into, and not everyone wants glasses floating above their heads. Then the wall is the next best place, and frankly often the best. This glass rack screws onto the wall, and the rails stick straight out from it like a little bar in miniature. The glasses hang upside down by their feet, clearly visible and always within reach, without taking up a single centimetre of cupboard space.
Hanging your glasses has more advantages than just looking good. Dust doesn't settle in the bowl, the glasses air out after washing and you don't have to stack them on a shelf where they rub against each other. Slide the glasses into the rails foot up and they hang securely, and the ends are angled slightly upwards so no glass slips out on its own. The rack fits all stemmed glasses, such as wine glasses, champagne glasses and stemmed beer glasses.
The racks for three or fifteen glasses have 30 cm deep rails, and those for four or twenty glasses have 40 cm deep rails. A 30 cm rail holds about three standard wine glasses and a 40 cm rail about four, and the number of rails times the rail depth gives how many glasses the rack takes. Primary-school maths, but with a far nicer reward than a gold star in your exercise book. If you need more than that, you can mount several racks side by side.
The rack is made of steel with a powder-coated finish and a simple, straight shape that works just as well in a home kitchen as in a restaurant or bar. It comes in black, grey, silver and gold, where the gold one is gold-coloured rather than brass. Silver and grey are two different shades, so choose the same colour if you're mounting several side by side.
