This Japanese bread mold with lid, called shokupan-keesu (食パンケース), is used to bake classic Japanese milk toast, shokupan. The pan is made of durable alutaito (a type of aluminum alloy) that provides even heat distribution and sharp edges on the bread.
The tight-fitting lid gives the bread its characteristic square shape and soft, even surface, while the open version gives a rounder and airier result.
