A transparent, airtight container that holds what could be called garnishes or accessories - though in professional kitchens you’ll more often hear chefs refer to it as “bits and bobs” or simply “the fiddly stuff.” Every serious restaurant kitchen is packed with small containers for the various components of each dish, making it easy and efficient to plate up everything heading out to the dining room. At home, we’re usually stuck with mismatched bowls and tubs that are completely useless for grated cheese or chopped hazelnuts when we’re trying to impress at a dinner party. The result: a hopelessly cramped countertop, a mountain of washing-up afterwards, and a fridge and pantry full of unwieldy vessels filled to one-fifteenth of their capacity, hoarding various delicacies that took forever to prepare.
