"This generous frame bowl is an example of the Japanese Minoyaki pottery tradition from Gifu Prefecture, which for over 400 years has stood for craftsmanship that balances function and beauty. The name Mori Aya translates to ""forest color"" and refers to the depth of the muted greenish-gray glaze, reminiscent of dew on moss or mist between tree trunks.
The shape of the bowl is ideal for the frame: wide, low and with a raised foot that makes it both stable and elegant when serving. The wide opening highlights the color and steam of the broth, while the sloping wall allows noodles and accessories to be beautifully distributed.
The glaze is vibrant and reactive, which means that each bowl has a unique variation in tone and texture, sometimes more metallic, sometimes softer and greener. The contrasting matte surface against the smooth interior makes it equally suitable for ramen as for donburi, salads or serving hot dishes in modern gastronomy.
Minoyaki ceramics are characterized by high durability, heat resistance and a visual stillness that enhances the food rather than competing with it, one of the core values of Japanese table culture."
