The Kumi range is for those who want something sober, elegant and at the same time a little different.
The textured surface of Rosenthal's Kumi range is inspired by traditional Japanese braiding techniques, particularly 'Kumihimo', where cords and ribbons are woven together into intricate patterns. This design idea also reflects European craft traditions, such as basket weaving and the making of leather handbags and furniture, adding intriguing depth without being garish.
In the Kumi range, this is evident through subtle relief patterns on the wide edges of the plates, as well as on the outside of bowls and mugs. These areas are deliberately unglazed, creating a matte surface that highlights the braided texture and provides a tactile contrast to the glazed parts and looks delicious. The result is a porcelain that combines visual elegance with a sense of handmade quality, where every detail reflects a harmonious balance between tradition and modern design.
Kumi is available in several pastel shades and is perfect for both the home and the restaurant where each plate can be part of the presentation.
