This is what happens when you combine them: a little bike with nine wheels that pedals across the dough and cuts it into strips of equal width all at once. It's basically the Giro d'Italia on a floured course, minus the hills, the doping scandals and the convoy of honking support cars.
Nine fluted wheels sit on a shared axle in a frame with a handle. Pull it across a rolled sheet of pasta, and instead of cutting strip by strip with a knife or wheel, you get eight strips of equal width with wavy edges in a single stroke. Run it once lengthwise and once across and you have a whole sheet of squares for ravioli, farfalle or maltagliati in seconds. The same goes for puff pastry, shortcrust, crackers, pizza and focaccia, or brownies that need cutting into pieces that really are the same size, so nobody at the table feels cheated.
You set the width yourself. The frame opens, the axle lifts out and the wheels slide further apart or closer together, or come off completely if you just want a few wide strips. It takes half a minute and needs no manual, just a little dexterity. When you're done, take it apart the same way and wash the parts by hand.
