Oval Cast Iron Pot, Black - Staub

The oval shape makes room for what round casseroles can't hold. A whole chicken, a large joint of meat, a whole fish. It's a pot shaped for whole ingredients, and you can tell from how snugly the lid sits and how the handles let you carry it full from oven to table.

Cast iron holds heat for a long time and spreads it evenly. The interior has a matt black enamel that withstands high heat and gives a good searing surface. The underside of the lid has a self-basting structure that collects condensation and spreads it evenly back over the food, keeping the meat juicy throughout cooking.
