Maltitol is a sweetener derived from naturally occurring compounds in wheat and corn (but is gluten-free). It is naturally sweet and can intensify flavor and increase nutritional value (by reducing the amount of sugar) without major changes to recipes or manufacturing processes. Typically used in baked goods, ice cream, chocolate, desserts and confectionery to prevent recrystallization of sugars and increase shelf life. It can also be used for its ability to lower the freezing point. Maltitol can be used as a sweetener and sugar substitute. It has 75-90% sucrose content. Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.
Use: Dose as needed
Keep dry and cool away from direct sunlight. Use within six months of opening the package.
