Many people invest a great deal of care and money in their knife, only to use a chopping board that is far too hard and wears the blade down in no time. Hasegawa’s plastic chopping boards are soft and gentle on knives, so you can work without worry. Many of you will surely recognise the yellow Japanese chopping board. This is the one!
This is also a soft plastic chopping board that will keep its shape, even if it is washed in a dishwasher or exposed to high heat. Thanks to the hermetically sealed wood core, the board simply refuses to warp. Other plastic chopping boards that have been through the dishwasher once can often be used to hide things underneath or as an example when explaining to someone what shape a banana has, but Hasegawa’s sushi chopping boards stay as flat as if they were contestants on Love is Blind no matter how thoroughly you wash them.
Thanks to the wood core they also weigh 30-50% less than a comparable plastic chopping board. That means it even takes less physical effort to load it into the dishwasher.
The chopping board’s soft textured surface also provides superior grip. You no longer need a cloth underneath the board to work steadily. You can also trust that the ingredient you are cutting stays exactly where it should.
A sealed wood core might sound worrying to some, but the wood is sterilised and covered in a thick layer of plastic and remains hermetically sealed as long as the chopping board is handled like a normal chopping board. The wood will therefore not absorb moisture and rot, but remain calm and stable inside.
The difference between the black and the yellow chopping board is the material. The yellow one is made from synthetic rubber and is softer, with better grip and even gentler on knives. The black one is made from polyethylene, slightly more robust and durable and less likely to discolour.
