This Japanese mortar, called suribachi, is made of glazed ceramic with internal grooves that efficiently grind sesame seeds, nuts and spices without crushing them. The white exterior gives a clean and harmonious look that makes it equally at home in the home kitchen as in the professional.
The interior has an unglazed, grooved surface that grips the ingredients and releases aromas in a controlled manner - perfect for goma-ae, miso dressings or other classic Japanese accessories.
Diameter 15.5 cm. Made in Japan. Supplied without pestle which is purchased separately.
