A robust and precision-made Japanese charcoal shovel, designed for working with conrogrills and binchotan grilling. Made of galvanized steel with a rigid, angled handle that provides optimal reach and control even at high temperatures.
This type of charcoal scoop, in Japanese sumitori shaberu, is traditionally used in Japanese barbecue kitchens to move and adjust glowing coals, portion out heat zones, or quickly clear ash between serves. The shape of the scoop is adapted to the narrow, rectangular geometry of the conro grill - wide enough to move embers efficiently, but narrow enough to access corners and along edges.
The handle is shaped to keep cooler longer and can be hung on the hook or grill edge between uses. The flat back edge also serves as a handy tool for scraping out ash or lifting grates.
An indispensable tool for those working with binchotan or other high quality charcoal types, where heat control is critical to the result.
