"Robata is not just a grilling method - it's a whole philosophy of heat, presence and precision. The word is short for robatayaki, a traditional Japanese technique in which food is grilled over glowing coals in multiple tiers. Where the classic conro grill is a kind of flame-throwing surface rocket, robata is more like a small-format wood-burning oven - where you build temperature zones, move vertically, plan sequence and position. For those who grill with thought, and who know there's a difference between burnt and seared.
This is also exactly where Kasai's Robata Rack comes into play. By mounting it on top of your existing conro, your grill is transformed from an efficient surface device into a complete cooking system. With two adjustable stainless steel grid shelves, you create three distinct temperature zones: directly over the embers for fast, brutal finish, the middle zone for searing or light smoking, and the top - where meat can rest, glaze itself in its own evaporation, or just wait in serving without overcooking. Anyone who's ever served a skewer that's perfectly pink in the middle, crispy on the outside and still glowing hot despite five minutes on top, understands the point.
Assembly? No need for that. The rack is designed to stand directly on your Kasai grill, regardless of size, with no extra fittings. The height of the shelves can be adjusted as needed and you can easily remove them completely if necessary. The grates themselves are the same model as Kasai's standard grates, so you can easily add extra levels if you wish (two are included here). And when you're done? Throw it all in the dishwasher - stainless steel can handle it.
With a robata rack, you go from thinking ""what can I grill?"" to ""what can't I grill?"". Vegetables with different textures? No problem. Fish that needs surface but also gentle cooking? Absolutely. Scallops, chicken wings, miso-marinated eggplant slices - you cook the menu in a single unit, from raw material to serving. And with a fuel like binchotan, which burns clean, long and extremely hot, the only limit to what you can achieve on your three levels is your imagination.
This is no barbecue accessory. It's a paradigm shift."
