There is a truth on which all serious wine experience rests, and which is nonetheless ignored time and again at dinner tables around the world: temperature is everything. Not roughly. Not almost. Everything. A Burgundy served too warm loses its elegance and falls flat. A Chablis served too cold closes up and reveals nothing. A Barolo that warms through the course of a meal is gradually transformed into something the winemaker never intended. And yet we place bottles in the arbitrary chill of ice buckets, watch as condensation forms puddles on the tablecloth and call it good enough. It is not good enough. It has never been good enough.

Grad No.1 is not a wine cooler in the traditional sense. It is a precision instrument for active temperature regulation, designed by a Danish/Swedish team with a single objective: that the wine you serve to the last drop should taste exactly as the winemaker intended. No ice. No condensation. No gradual warming through the course of the meal. No guesswork. Just precise, uninterrupted control throughout the entire service.

It works simply: place the bottle, set the temperature and let Grad No.1 do the rest. The battery lasts up to 20 hours at 15°C, 9 hours at 10°C and 4 hours at 5°C, all at normal room temperature. Starting with a bottle from the fridge, it is chilled and stable within minutes. Starting with a room-temperature bottle, it maintains serving temperature for approximately 30-55 minutes depending on the bottle. If the battery life feels insufficient, it can also be used plugged in throughout the entire service. Charging time: 2.5 hours.

The ice bucket treats wine as mercilessly as an entire generation of fathers has treated its children. It chills unevenly, makes the bottle wet, creates mess on the table and cannot under any circumstances be used for red wines. The passive wine cooler with neoprene or vacuum merely slows the inevitable fate of the bottle eventually reaching its surrounding temperature. Grad No.1 is the only alternative that actually solves the problem, portable and without compromise.
