There's no reason to save the baroque for special occasions. A clear glass plate with scrolls, flowers and shells in relief turns a slice of apple cake on a Tuesday into something else entirely, and when the sun shines in through the window, the pattern scatters little reflections of light across the table.
The plates are part of the Versailles range from French glassmaker La Rochère, which has been making glass in Passavant-la-Rochère since 1475, which you have to admit is an incredibly long time. They are made of pressed glass, a durable material that is dishwasher safe, and work just as well for cold and warm desserts as for fruit or a starter.
Six plates per pack, 19 cm in diameter. Made in France.
