Closed, the corkscrew forms a compact sculptural block in polished 18/10 stainless steel, with ten-sided forms that reflect the light softly and look just as natural left on display as picked up for use. Fukasawa is one of Japan’s most respected names in product design, known for a philosophy of quiet harmony between people, objects and space, and recipient of the 2018 Isamu Noguchi Award.
The moment the corkscrew is opened, it transforms. The body unfolds, the spiral appears and the form extends into a firm grip in professional-grade steel. Integrated into the body, hidden when the tool is closed, are a foil cutter and bottle opener. They reveal themselves only when needed, allowing the sculptural purity to remain intact at every other moment.
The collection also includes a wine cooler, champagne stopper and wine stopper in the same geometric design language.
