Sustainapouch is a compostable vacuum bag designed for chamber vacuum machines, developed with sous vide in mind. The film is certified home compostable and made from rice, potatoes, corn and a fossil-based copolymer - a composition that combines high durability with a sustainable profile.
Unlike many other compostable bags, these can withstand prolonged heat exposure and withstand temperatures up to 85°C for up to 12 hours without delaminating or swelling. This makes them particularly suitable for low-temperature cooking of sensitive raw materials for extended periods.
The clarity of the film allows easy identification of contents, and it welds securely even under high stress. The pouches are BPA free and are also excellent for storing liquids, with the exception of alcohol.
Please note that Sustainapouch is only intended for use in chamber vacuum machines - not for external vacuum sealing. They are also not suitable for boiling or microwaving.
Composting time varies with the environment: industrial compost breaks down the material within six months, while home compost is affected by temperature, moisture and oxygenation. In marine environments, the film is reduced to granular material within about 26 weeks.
