Ordinary charcoal tends to burn out right when the chicken starts getting interesting. These briquettes don't. Pressed from coconut shells into even, rectangular blocks, they deliver stable, high heat for up to 2.5 hours - enough to grill in batches without topping up.
Byproduct, not rainforest
Coconut briquettes are made from the shells left over once the coconuts have been harvested. No forest gets cut down for your barbecue night, and the burn is clean with minimal smoke and sparks. The only thing smoking is that appetising smokiness that settles into the food - not into next door's washing.
More grilling per kilo
Since the briquettes burn both longer and hotter than traditional wood charcoal, you need less of it per grilling session. The 5 kg box lasts several occasions, and the uniform shape makes them easy to stack, dose and light.
Made for embers, not flames
The briquettes are developed for grilling over embers in Caliu's charcoal grills, but work just as well in other charcoal grills and robatayaki. Let them ash over properly before adding the food, and you'll be rewarded with even heat from edge to edge.
