It is important to understand that this is a very sharp quality knife and should be treated with care and respect. The knife is not a toy and an adult should always be present during use.
DESIGN & FUNCTION
The edge of the knife is very sharp and is marked with a line on the blade. The heel of the blade is shaped to prevent the hand from sliding forward and has no tip to avoid stabbing injuries. Inspiration for the design of the blade comes from Japanese vegetable knives - Nakiri. The knife is sharpened at a Japanese angle, about 15 degrees. The handle is made of durable, easy-to-grip plastic with the Japanese symbols for "Child Chef". These also help to provide a more secure grip.
Maintenance and use
The knife should be maintained with a ceramic handle. If you need to sharpen a new cutting edge, it is best done on wet stone or in a knife sharpener designed for Japanese knives. Steel knives are not dishwasher safe and should be washed and dried by hand immediately after use. The knife is best stored on a knife rack or in a knife block.
CUTTING GLOVES
