The bunka is the more pointed cousin of the classic Japanese santoku. The same length, but with a distinctive k-tip at the front that offers a level of precision a rounded tip cannot. That makes the bunka the choice for anyone who wants to slice an onion without losing track of the tip, lift a fish fillet with control or work close to the core of a firm vegetable.
The Senzo Retro Bunka is made by Suncraft in Seki, Japan. The three-layer blade with a Ginsan core combines the corrosion resistance of semi-stainless steel with the cutting characteristics of carbon steel. Hardness: 59–61 HRC. The nashiji surface reduces friction and gives the blade the textured, matte finish inspired by classic Japanese knife making. The octagonal wenge handle provides a naturally stable grip for precision work.
Blade length: 165 mm. Construction: San Mai. Grind: double bevel 50/50. Made in Japan.
