    • Jealous Devil wants to offer legendary fuel to everyone who likes to barbecue. Surely there is no more mythical fuel than binchotan (not counting potions, bumbie bear juice and love)?

Binchotan is the process that makes the purest and most powerful charcoal imaginable. Its performance is so unique and unusual that the manufacturing technique has survived since the 17th century and has been passed down from generation to generation of charcoal makers. Binchotan is carbonized at extreme heat exceeding 1200°C for several days in special ovens. The process makes the coal uniquely hard and almost like metal or stone. It also gives the charcoal its amazing burning properties. Jealous Devils binchotan is made from natural materials, namely extremely hard wood from Paraguay. The manufacturing process honors the Japanese tradition all the way to the end.

What makes Binchotan so special and why does it cost more than other charcoal? Firstly, it is easy to reuse. Extinguish the coal in water, let it dry and use it again without noticing that the quality is affected. It provides extremely high burning hours, unlike porous gas station coal. The density also means that the heat output is much higher than any other coal. So Binchotan gets hotter and burns longer than any other type of charcoal. On top of that, it is virtually smoke-free and has a great taste. However, we would like to point out that grilling involves a combustion process that means that the fire consumes oxygen and produces carbon monoxide even if there is no visible smoke. Grilling should therefore be carried out outdoors so that the oxygen supply remains good.

The small disadvantage that comes with all the fantastic properties of binchotan is that the charcoal is comparatively difficult to ignite, and kindling can be a good friend to a binchotan fan. Patience is a small price to pay for a coal that is amazing!
