Oven-baked bacon is one of those discoveries that make you wonder how you ever lived without it. No splatter on the hob, no flipping, and a whole batch that turns crispy at the same time. The secret is that the bacon sits on a rack, so the fat drips down and air circulates around every rasher. This sheet is built for exactly that, but also for oven chips, chicken wings, dried fruit and anything else that should be crispy all round.
The sheet is made of pure, uncoated aluminium that conducts heat evenly, and it's deeper than a standard baking sheet, so fat and juices stay in the sheet instead of running into the oven. On top sits a raised carbon steel rack that lifts the food off the bottom and lets the hot air reach the underside too. The result is crisper oven chips, more even bacon and chicken wings that don't go soggy on one side.
The rack lifts off and can be used as a cooling rack, and the sheet works brilliantly on its own for roasted vegetables and sheet-pan dinners. It's made not to warp in the heat and has no coating that can wear off. Over time the aluminium develops a duller patina, and that's how it should be.
Nordic Ware is the family business from Minneapolis that has been making bakeware since 1946, and the sheets in the Naturals range are still made in the USA.
