An ordinary loaf is a rectangle. This one is a meadow. Wildflower is a loaf pan with ferns and wildflowers in relief on the sides and arched edges, so every loaf or cake comes out of the pan already decorated before you've done anything. It's like bringing a walk in the countryside to the coffee table, minus the ticks.
The pan suits any cake or bread you'd normally bake in a loaf tin: sponge cake, lemon cake, banana bread, carrot cake, pound cake or a moist spiced loaf at Christmas. Dust with a little icing sugar and the flowers stand out clearly, or brush over a thin glaze and it runs into the pattern. The pan holds approx. 1.4 litres, a standard loaf size.
The pan is cast in thick aluminium that conducts heat evenly, so the cake bakes the same in every leaf and petal. The inside has a non-stick coating, and with thorough greasing with butter and a little flour or cocoa before every bake, the cake releases easily and keeps every detail. Fill no more than three-quarters full and let the cake cool for about ten minutes before turning it out.
