The longer Asian cooking sticks are used in professional kitchens to work near hot oil or steam without losing precision.
At 45 cm long, they provide a safe distance from the heat while maintaining a direct and supple grip. The light weight and natural texture of bamboo make them both supple and safe to handle, even when your hands are wet.
In Japanese and Chinese kitchens, this type of long stick is used mainly for deep-frying, when tempura, spring rolls or vegetables need to be turned in oil without breaking or puncturing. The same tool is also used in wok cooking, blanching and serving where precision is needed.
The long shape makes it easy to pick up ingredients without disturbing the oil, and bamboo does not conduct heat, so they stay cool in the hand.
They are made from untreated bamboo, tied with a simple string at the end. Over time, the surface naturally darkens, which only makes them better - a little more grip, a little more character.
