Asian cooking sticks are used in much of Asia instead of tongs, spoons or forks.
They provide a precise and gentle grip, especially when deep-frying, stir-frying or serving where feel is more important than power. The long tines allow you to work close to the heat without risking burns, while the low thermal conductivity of bamboo keeps them cool in the hand.
In Japan they are used to flip tempura, in Korea to lift noodles, and in China to handle ingredients during quick stir-frying. Same tool, different techniques, same result: control over the movement and respect for the raw material.
The sticks are made of untreated bamboo with a natural surface texture that provides a good grip even when wet. A simple twist at the end keeps the pair together between uses.
They can withstand daily use and become slightly patinated over time, but should not be left in water for a long time. Rinse, dry and store in an airy place and they will last for many years.
