Most knives don't go dull because they're bad, but because nobody can be bothered to hone them. The honing steel stays in the drawer, and one day the chef's knife skids off the tomato skin instead of slicing through it.
This knife block takes care of the honing for you. The slots for the plain-edged knives have ceramic honing stones that realign the edge at the right angle every time you take a knife out or put it back. It's not sharpening from scratch, but ongoing maintenance that keeps the edge keen for longer. The bread knife has a serrated edge and sits in a slot without a stone.
The block holds five knives from Zwilling's Gourmet series: a 10 cm paring and garnishing knife, a 13 cm utility knife, a 16 cm carving knife, a 20 cm chef's knife and a 20 cm bread knife, plus a pair of scissors. The blades are stamped from Zwilling's own stainless steel alloy and ice-hardened using the Friodur method, with a classic black plastic handle and three rivets.
The block itself is brown ash with a stainless steel top and measures roughly 28 x 11.5 x 20.5 cm. The only thing you have to do is actually put the knife back.
